This fantastic tour combines two thrilling, high adrenaline adventures in one day! From your accommodation in San José, travel north-east through the spectacular mountains of the Braulio Carrillo National Park and onto Sarapiqui to enjoy an extensive zipline canopy tour in the morning, followed by an action packed white water rafting on the Sarapiqui River. All of that and an excellent lunch served at midday. This is the ultimate tour combo for adventure goers everywhere!

Start your day with a pick up from your accommodation in San Jose and the surrounding areas where you will head north-east through the beautiful mountain forests of the Braulio Carrillo National Park. On clear days you can see vast valleys and jungle mountainsides as you descend through to the flat tropical countryside of the Heredia Province. From here you will head towards the natural wonders of Sarapiqui, best known for its lush jungle forests and truly excellent rivers, offering some of the best white river rafting in the entire country.

The adventure combo starts with an exciting zipline canopy tour in the middle of a secondary forest with spectacular views from the canopies edge. This extensive zipline tour goes through nine cables, all of varying lengths, as it zips its way through the stunning forests of Sarapiqui. You will get a unique birds-eye view from the very tops of the canopy as you make your way through the course, with the last cable traveling over the Sarapiqui River itself. From your vantage point, you maybe lucky enough to see a number of birds and other native flora which are abundant in this area. With the zipline tour complete, we will take you to a local restaurant where you will be treated to a typical Costa Rican lunch.

After lunch it will be time for even more exhilaration and excitement as you head to the banks of the Sarapiqui River to start your white water rafting. Here you will get changed, given life jackets, helmets and a safety briefing to ensure you’re ready to start your thrilling rafting adventure. White water rafting on the Sarapiqui River offers variety of  fun, challenging rapids ranging from grade II to III. Enjoy both peaceful cruises down the river with excellent views of the surrounding forests and local fauna followed by moments of rush and adrenaline as you take on fast flowing water and bouncing rapids. Enjoy nine miles of both serenity and excitement on this not to be missed adventure in Sarapiqui!

Finally, with your adventure combo complete, you will head back with your guide and group for the return journey to your accommodation in San Jose where your tour will conclude.

Please note that the grades of the white water rafting is between II and III therefore making it suitable for beginners. However, please keep in mind that some parts of the rafting will be turbulent and its likely you will get wet. If you are not confident around the water, we highly recommend that you opt the white water rafting for horseback riding instead. It’s also highly advised not to carry valuables during your rafting experience. Please note that Eco Tours & Travel are not responsible for any accident, injury or loss of items incurred on this tour.

Pick ups are available from your hotel throughout San Jose and the greater area. If your accommodation falls outside of the pick up area, then we will arrange a pick up location where you can meet your driver/guide.

Child pricing is between the age of 9 to 10 years of age – you must be a minimum of 9 years old to join the white water rafting portion of this tour. For infants under the age of 2 years of age their is a charge of $18.00 USD. Private tours for groups are available on request – please use the contact form on our contact page to request a quote. Tour is subject to minimum numbers of 3 adult passengers – if numbers are not met, then you will be put on stand by until we can confirm or arrange an alternative date of departure.

Cancellations must be made a full 48 hours prior to the tour embarking, otherwise a penalty of 100% will be applied. Likewise there will also be a 100% penalty for no shows.

7.00AM to 8.00am

Picked up from your hotel at San Jose or the surrounding area and then embarking north east through the Northern Heredia provinces. Traverse through the scenically stunning Braulio Carrillo National Park and continue on to Sarapiqui.

10.30AM

Arrive at Sarapiqui and begin your zipline canopy tour through tropical forests. This will include a 9 cable course with the last cable finishing over the Sarapiqui River. You will be provided with all safety equipment and given a briefing and training from your guides.

12:30PM

Enjoy a fantastic Costa Rican styled lunch at a local restaurant.

1.00pm

Head back to Sarapiqui River to begin your white water rafting experience. Once you have received your equipment and briefed by your guides, you will head to the banks of the river to board your raft. Enjoy a nine mile exhilarating journey down the river moving through a combination of calm, tranquil water and exciting rapids all the way to the end. Your guides will also be sure to point out the flora and fauna seen along the way.

4.00PM

Rejoin your group and tour guide and head back to San Jose.

7.00pm/8.00PM

Arrive back at your accommodation where your tour will conclude.
