Set sail on a catamaran experience like never before! On this popular tour from Tamarindo, you will embark on a relaxing Tamarindo sunset cruise along the Guanacaste coastline. Enjoy a morning or afternoon of beverages, snacks, and snorkelling and/or swimming in the warm Costa Rican waters and a delicious BBQ lunch prepared by your crew. If embarking in the afternoon, you’ll be able to watch the beautiful sunset upon your return journey back to Tamarindo.
You will meet your crew on Tamarindo beach in the morning or afternoon for a quick briefing and boat transfer to the Marlin del Rey – a huge 66′ sailing catamaran complete with indoor compartments, bathrooms, and large sunbathing nets. Your crew will then set sail through the calm bays of Tamarindo. On any given day, you may be lucky enough to spot dolphins, turtles, flying fish, or even migratory whales.
Upon arriving at a picture-esque bay, the crew will drop anchor so you can enjoy the warm waters of the Pacific. This is a golden opportunity have dip in the calm coastal waters, snorkel in the bay, or even make your way to the deserted white sand beach. Afterwards a delicious meal has been prepared for you by your crew. Eat your fill of BBQ chicken, Spanish rice, a variety of fruit, chips, refried beans, pico de gallo, and even freshly made chocolate chip cookies. There is also plenty to drink throughout the journey with an open bar of beer, wine, liquor, and soft drinks.
Finally, your crew will hoist the anchor for their return journey back to Tamarindo beach. If you join us on the afternoon tour, you maybe treated to an absolutely spectacular sunset for that perfect photo opportunity.

This tour is weather dependent and some activities or the excursion may cancelled due to inclement weather. If the tour does cancel due to bad weather, then you will not be charged (there is no refunds if certain activities such as snorkeling is cancelled). Morning tours are also subject to a minimum number of fifteen people before it can operate – if numbers are not met, then you will be put on stand by until we can confirm or offered an alternative time/date of departure.
Pick up and drop off from various hotels in Tamarindo is also available for an additional fee. Please select the option upon booking if required.
Snorkeling equipment, life jackets and floaties are included on this tour.

Great overall experience and the guide and team on the boat were incredible! Very helpful and wanted to make sure you had a good time no matter what age you were. There was a good mix of young to old on board. The boat was great and especially the journey back watching the sunset, very idyllic! The snorkeling was pretty basic but you do see some fish! The bar is a truly and open bar and they can whip you up most cocktails!
Overall, I would recommend!
We booked the Sunset expedition and took a shuttle from a hotel to the beach. The ride from the beach to the boat was easy and bumpy. The employees were AMAZING! The food was AMAZING! Snorkeling was a huge success and blast. Saw some fish, a sting ray, and the volcanic rocks with life all around it. The ride to and from was absolutely worth every penny. Book today and enjoy!
My friends and I took this tour last week and it was great! Great music, really friendly and helpful staff/crew, and the lunch was tasty. The sunset was an amazing experience to top it off. Just a heads up, you cannot wear any type of shoes on the water taxi and the catamaran.

Great time on the sunset cruise. Good food. Drinks when wanted. We chose to float on pool noodles in the ocean with a drink in hand instead of snorkeling.

Our group had a fantastic time on the sunset cruise. Felipe, Dominic and the rest of the crew were incredibly professional but not stuffy. The boat and all equipment/facilities were very well taken care of and clean. The entire crew went out of their way to ensure all the guests were happy and taken care of. When a careless guest dropped her phone in the water, Dominic even attempted several deep dives to find it for her. I’d highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tamarindo.
We booked this sailing trip when we were staying in Tamarindo and it was awesome. Even on a windy day the sailing was still relatively smooth. We sailed out to a beach, enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the boat and then sailed back to see the beautiful sunsets. The staff were all experienced sailors and very helpful and courteous. It was a wonderful experience for us, even with a 1 year old baby. I would definitely do this again!
Fabulous experience on the Marlin del Rey! Best time to relax, enjoy the perfect drinks and eat delicious food! We met amazing people and the staff were amazing!!! Felipe is one to remember lol! He’s so comical, fun and catering to the guests!! Definitely a recommend during your trip!
A must do in Tamarindo. The crew is incredible!
We had a fantastic experience on this excursion. The boat was beautiful and well maintained and the service from the staff was top-notch. We were able to see dolphins and manta rays. The crew took my 8-year-old out on a kayak to get him closer to a good snorkeling spot the food so that he didn’t spend the whole time swimming to get there. Food was delicious, bar was open, and the sunset was gorgeous. I can’t say enough good things. I would book it again in a heartbeat.
Our group had a great time on our catamaran tour! The staff took great care of us throughout the trip (especially Reese behind the bar). The lunch provided was delicious and plentiful! We anchored near a beach and cove to do some snorkelling where we saw an amazing variety of fish. 10/10 would recommend.

Just a beautiful trip! We saw a huge humpback whale, the boat was quite large so even with the large swells, it felt very stable and fun… not scary. Sunset is just a perfect time for a cruise. Everyone seemed to have a blast.
