Experience a unique Costa Rica adventure of chocolate and nocturnal animals on this evening tour in La Fortuna, Arenal. As the sun falls, join a tour of a thriving chocolate plantation and learn about one of Costa Rica’s most popular export: chocolate. Learn from start to finish how cocoa is harvested from pods and then processed into the chocolate we all now and love. As you progress through the tour, select members of the group can even try a hand at grinding their own cocoa and then hand making rich chocolate bars for you to take away. Fortunately, you tour of the plantation doesn’t just end there. This place comes alive at night, with sightings of a unique array of amphibians, lizards, and insects very common. If you’re lucky, you may even see the iconic Red Eye Tree Frog on any given evening. Your experience guide will take you on a walking tour of the farm and assist you getting up close to some of these hidden “Jewels of the Forest”. This is a wildlife tour like never before!

Child pricing is between the age of 7 to 12 years of age (children younger than 6 are free to enjoy this tour). Please note that a slightly longer private tour is available on request (prices are $80 and $60 USD for adults and children, respectively). This tour requires a minimum of two paying adults to operate – if numbers are not met, then you will be put on stand by until we can confirm. The facilities on the Coffee & Chocolate Trail are fully catered to families with children who require a stroller or people with some physical limitations including walkers, crutches or wheelchair.
