A tour for certified divers looking to explore one of the best diving regions in Guanacaste! Embark on our Catalina Island Costa Rica Scuba Diving trip to see some truly incredible marine life in one of best places in the country for diving and snorkeling. Our half day diving tour fits you with scuba equipment and transports you via boat to the Catalina Island for two separate dives! This is a not to be missed opportunity for any dive enthusiast.

Your day begins in Tamarindo where you will meet your guide at their diving center to be equipped with the right wetsuit and diving equipment. Once you are all fitted out, it will be time to head to the boat where you can enjoy a leisurely 45 minute boat ride to your first diving stop at the famous and protected refuge of “Islas Catalinas” or Catalina Islands. Once all prepped, your guides will give you a briefing before plunging into the water. This incredible archipelago is attracts an array of marine life from far and wide, offering some of the best diving in this part of the country. On any given day, you may be able to see turtles, eagle rays, eels, white tip reef sharks, and an abundance of fish species. If you’re lucky you, may be able to see giant whale sharks glide through the water or perhaps if the season is right, the majestic oceanic manta rays! Swim with your expert guides as they show you some of the best spots to observe marine life in their natural habitat.

With the first dive complete, your group will come back aboard where some complimentary fruit, snacks and soft drinks will be waiting for you. Discuss with some of the other divers the amazing things you saw in the archipelago as the boat captain transports you to the second dive spot. Join your group as you plunge into the waters to come face to face with even more incredible ocean dwelling animals and spectacular ocean topography. When sea conditions are right, you can enjoy a clear view of all the wonders and secrets both below and above the water. As you rejoin your boat for the ride back, you may be fortunate enough to see dolphins, turtles, and occasionally even migratory whales!

With your dives complete, you will return to shore around midday where you activity will conclude.

Please note that this tour is for certified divers only! If you are not a certified or confident diver but would still like to join a scuba diving tour, then please click here. All gear is provided on this activity except for a dive computer. If you are prone to seasickness, it is recommended taking a motion sickness tablet about 30 minutes to 1 hour before the boat trip.

This tour operates rain or shine. In case of poor conditions, we may alternate to Cabo Velas, which is another protected area that offers spectacular diving and an abundance of marine life. On some occasions, this tour may cancel due to unsafe oceanic conditions. In which case, this activity will cancel and you will either not be charged or offered a full refund.

We also offer pick ups from accommodations in Tamarindo and Langosta upon request. Otherwise you can meet your diver masters at the dive shop. Please advise if you require transfer when booking this tour. We will advise the meeting spot for this tour upon booking.

The cancellation for this specific tour is as follows. You may cancel 15 days before your trip for a full refund, up to 7 days before your trip for a 50% refund, and cancelations within one week will incur a 100% charge.

We ask that your please listen to your dive masters at Tamrindo Diving carefully and follow their instructions. Always keep within sight of your dive masters when in the waters. 6.50am

Either be picked up at your accommodation in Tamarindo or Langosta or meet at the dive shop in Tamarindo to be outfitted with wetsuits, masks, flippers and all diving gear. Your dive masters will ensure that all your equipment is a good fit for the dive.

7.30am

Once everyone has their equipment, your group will be transported to Tamarindo beach where you can board your boat and set sail for the archipelago of Isla Catalinas.

8.30am

After a 45 minute boat ride you will arrive at Isla Catalinas and the first dive spot. Here you will be able to change into your wetsuit and equipped with your diving gear. Once you have the go ahead from your dive master, take the plunge into the water and swim down to the depths to see the incredible marine life and topographical features of the archipelago. Follow your dive masters as they take you to number of locations which are brimming with life during your first 45 minute dive!

9.30am

With your first 45 minute dive complete, head back onboard to enjoy some complimentary fruit, snacks and soft drinks. Take this time to relax and prepare yourself and before we head off to the second dive location.

10.15am

Your captain will transport you to the second dive location where you will be briefed before plunging into the water again for your second 45 minute dive. Enjoy the incredible features of this underwater archipelago and see even more marine life as you explore the depths of this incredible ocean habitat.

11.00am

Make your way back to the boat where your captain will begin is return trip to Tamarindo beach. If you’re lucky, you may even see turtles, dolphins or whales on the way back.
